WHY FENG SHUI AND NOT VAASTU?

Reader Question : WHY FENG SHUI AND NOT VAASTU?

I will answer Subhatra’s doubt, in this blog entry. Her question was, on why I chose feng shui over Vaastu.

Well Subha,to make a long story short, back in 1997 after reading Lillian Too’s books on Feng Shui, I naturally started applying what I had read into my home and life. Vaastu was alien to me then, and I don’t recall ever reading about this ancient science. Neither was it a topic of discussion among my Hindu friends nor the temple priests!

It was only in 2001, that I came to know about this ancient science through a friend who had just returned from India. Later on somewhere in 2003/2004, I attended a talk on Vaastu here in Seremban. I was able to compare both Feng Shui and Vaastu ;based on my limited experiences. I was intrigued, here is two great ancient science that teaches mankind the method of harmonizing man-made environment and calculation of time and space.

Even during the talk, I was already contemplating ways on harmonizing these two great ancient system and see it at work! Then, during the question and answer session, a gentleman shared his tale of woes, whereby he had just purchased a new home, that was situated in front of a T-junction. His family members had been falling ill and he too was facing problems in his career. So, to this, he was told to sell his house and move to another area!

My friends and I was truly shocked with the  answer. Here is someone who had used all his life saving to buy his home and is now told to sell and move!

Now, personally, that was the turn off point for me.

Many of us, I’m sure would not be able to make such a drastic decision. Whether its Vaastu or Feng Shui, the underlying principle here is, it must be practical and possible for everyone to be able to apply.
